Buttons and stuff on a UK 80 series Auto Box

Lads
a Jap one.
My Jap has 3 buttons:
1. 2nd start
2. Power
3. Overdrive
Is that the same configuration as a UK one?
Concerned that if I get a UK box , the Jap speaking ECU won't talk to
the limey gearbox.
Don't know enough about ECU's to know if it would make a difference.
Anyone know the score on this one?

Niall,
The key thing is to check which type of box you have - the rest should =3D
be compatible.
Take a look at your vehicle identification plate under the bonnet - it =3D
should list the gearbox type there.

I was talking to the lad with the problem with his AT and he thinks it may
be his converter, does this make sense.
He said if you have the space maybe you would be better off bringing a
whole vehicle from the UK so you could verify the mileage on the AT and have
other bits aswell. He has 2 80 series.

Hi John
Unless he has a sixth sence to diagnose then it dosen't make sence. He
might want to go through the trouble shooting and fault diagnosis
scenarios in the repair manual as a starting point.
Unfortunately my yard and sheds can't cope with another piece of junk
