Hi

I'm new to landcruisers and been hearing the 60 is a solid good truck for 4wd'n and I'm asking everyone what I Should look out for when buying a 60? Common problems? Does the 60 have live axles? Or IFS? I'm looking at buying a cheaper 60 as a project and do it up slowly

All info be welcomed.

I take it you are not in the UK Boofhead. 60's are a bit "specialist" these days and if you want a truck for "4wd'n" a 60 series might not be the best 1st purchase as parts are becoming harder to get and their leaf spring suspension leaves a bit to be desired compared with the coil setup of other models.
There are a couple of rebuild threads in the 60 section which does make interesting reading.

Things to look out for?

hmmnn, well...............

rust, rust and errrr, rust, oh, and did I mention, rust!

Buy an 80!

or, if your overseas where they were sold, a 70HD

If your heart is set on a 60, there is a minter knocking around on ebay at the moment, but check carefully for rust!

Yes the 60 has solid axles front and back.

Theres a serious lack of love for the 60 in ere......

just a serious dose of reality!

I love my 60, but taking on a 60 these days is quite an undertaking, you have to know what you are getting into. If you want an everyday or weekend fun truck, there are better options out there.

This is especially so in the UK. It's a different story in Oz where parts supply is better and rust isn't as much of a problem but with less than 300 left in the UK and parts supply a major issue the picture is not so good. The OP didn't say where they are located, which is very relevant to answering the question.

I love my 60! Moggy is seriously correct. When I restored my 60 from complete scrap. It took serious determination and 100's of hours.. when you finish the welding.... you're winning but to do a full respray you are talking about 3 weeks including door assembly etc.

Worth every second spent but you have to be very determined to succeed.

Give it a go.... all the best and good luck!!
