Center Diff Lock not working

Hi All,

Second post, second question!...........

Parked the 'cruiser up last year for some TLC, moved it last night for the first time in months and the centre diff lock is not working (worked fine before being parked up), press the button on the dash (92 model) and the orange light flashes but no motor movement (I think the relay in the drivers footwell is trying to work) I bypassed the CDL switch on the transfer case with a paper clip which fooled it into thinking it was in and the front and rear diffs actuated fine.
I have unplugged the low range plug so I can switch CDL in high or low ages ago and that never affected things.

Any thoughts or test procedures?

Thanks

Can you hear the motor running when you turn the switch? The CDL actuator can be a bit of a fiddle to get off but I'd take it off and (carefully) open it up for a look inside. The grease can go hard and where the spindle for the gear runs through can get a bit stiff and a little TLC is needed to make it work properly.
