Steam washed the under side at the weekend and found this

Crack at steering box.

This is where the panard arm mount is fixed to the chassie rail under the steering box.
It seems it had a low hard impact and had the steering shock mount welded back on also.
What do you's think I should do, it stands me only €800 so could sell it for parts very easly.
I have seen this problem on other sites where its been lifted and running big rubber,
they just weld a plate around it and drive it on.
Any ideas  :?:

I don't see why you shouldn't just effect a repair as you describe above... Grind out the crack, weld it up & then weld a plate over it all???

It would be a shame to break an otherwise (presumably...) solid truck.

Are they some sort of bucket seat I can see in there???

Ye they are some kind of bucket seat they were in it when I got it,
not sure what they are out of.
The truck is originally from the UK, imported 6-8 years ago.

It is a common place for them to crack.

Paul

Ye have heard of it being a problem.
Two of us missed the crack at the panard only seen it when I got it over the pit.
