Clutch life?

What's the average mileage for changing the clutch, I know a lot depends on driving style etc...
I'm planning a big road trip, so thinking about preventative maintenance. She's got 140,000kms now. Done some off road work with previous owner, but mostly used on the road with no towing.
I don't want it to fail whilst travelling, but equally I don't want to change it before its due.

I think to test put it in 5th gear release handbrake and release the clutch as you would to take off in 1st and if it stalls quickly you don't need to worry about the clutch .

Someone may contradict me but that's how I remember it .

changed mine at 170k miles, but have no way of knowing if it had been changed before
