I've swap a hdj100 into a uzj100 in Canada. Looks like the dealer here cannot read the ECU or AHC. Are there any after market readers for 2000 HDJ100.
Also i only have one key, so i'm pretty much screwed there unless i get a dealer to get the correct software to read the truck (to program a key). From the toyota-tech.eu web site (if you are registered) you can download the intelliigent software tester, if you have the dealer address and the reader serial. So i hope that my local dealer will be able to download it. If you know about a code reader that does work for a 2001 HDJ100 let me know. I have a ODBCII here and it is a no go.

I don't think the HDJ100's were ODBII compatible till some time in 2004 so I'm pretty sure you need your dealer to get that software working.

Yup. No go on OBD2. Around here the dealers use the Toyota Tester for the MOBD as it's called. Toyota specific. So I suppose that if your dealer has the same Tester they should be able to get the right software.

Another thing is that with the FSM, you are able to do most of the code reading without the Tester. For the AHC, the codes are often not helpful anyway, e.g. for the spheres.

For the 2000, the only absolute need for a tester I've seen is to switch off the automatic tilt-and-retract steering wheel.

For the key issue, afaik you can do it without a dealer, as long as you have one master key. Just get a new one from e-pray, program it according to info on mud, and have a locksmith cut it.

You are everywhere! Do you have a link to that on ih8mud? From what i have been told by the dealer is that you need to access the ECU in order to reprogram de key, if that link on mud provide a other method that will be nice. But dealers here in North America cannot read at all the ECU from a 1HD-FTE.

Thanks

A few on mud.
Don't know which is a good one for programming a new key. Searched "Key Question". You will need to program both the immobilizer and the remote lock function - two different procedures.

In fact you could even get an uncut key with a an empty shell from -bay, and a 2nd hand chip from a breakers yard, or some discarded key.
