This is no potential Darwin Award recipient, this is in fact a mutant.
In order for this guy to have lived long enough to have made this dumb-arse decision to attempt this ladder stunt, he must have already grown gills, developed soft cartilage like flexible bones, and self-amalgamating/healing epidermis in order to survive all the other stupid stuff he's done up until this point.

My take on this one. This is one very clever opportunist.
This chap is smart enough to know that fire means heat, and heat means expansion.
That massive transformer is full of oil. It is being subjected to that heat.
Soon it will explode, sending gallons of oil his way.
Being prepared as he is, he will then capture the 4 gallons of oil he needs to do the next service on his Citroen absolutely free of charge.
Now that's clever.
