Hi everyone just wondering if anyone else had there dash above the clocks splitting & what you used to stop it getting any worse

My 120 dash has got cracks all over it - I think its a manufacturing fault, and there were recalls in some countries....

Mines ok at present, but bright sunlight and the heat generated through the windscreen is the killer with a lot of plastic dashboards. When parked, I use a full height and width sunscreen on the inside. As this is a recognised problem in hot countries, there is a cloth terry towelling type dash mat available, but not over here, unless you want to import and pay the various taxes, vat etc.

There we are, bright sunshine and heat. Thats why theres little market for the dash mats over here

Thanks guys for your reply’s definitely going to get one & hope it doesn’t get any worse

Worth 'feeding' the plastic with a dash polish, even a spry of back to black or similar will help to stop the platsic drying out fully in the sun.
Also, same as Tractionman, full width reflective shield on the inside, which also helps protect the dashcam and dash mounted GPS speedo from sun damage.

I use auto glym vinyl and rubber care to keep the plastic in as good as poss condition, and always cover up if sun bearing down on it when possible. That gear I have used when restoring 70's motorcycles, and it definitely improves plastic and rubber parts, so i thought use it, been good to date

Simonize used to do a very good one in the 80s for that purpose, always kept the inside of my trucks and cars clean and crack free. Even nicer, we used to haul goods for them, so many free samples given out.

Wow, just spotted this thread as i was about to post this problem!
Mine has only ever been in the UK but as we all know exceptional weather, fine cracks appeared in several locations, gutted when you spend so much time looking after it!!!

Mines been getting progressively worse for five years or so. It's pretty bad tbh, so I've bought a chinese dash carpet off eBay. Iirc it was £20 ish, and is pretty good!

Is it worth getting some dash repair filler and trying to patch it up?

There was an episode of wheeler dealers or car sos where they put new foam stuffing in heated it up with a hot air gun ah just remembered it was not split think you would have to source the material from an vehicle upholstery company specialist for a match if the foam is powdering get that sorted as well and the new cover should be more UV resistant dash pad removal would be a necessity APB sell dash top covers but are usually special orders or get one made out of marine grade carpet

My 2005 dash suddenly did the same .... one hair line and within 2 months, it's gotten worst. I'm particularly interested in getting the most up to date part number - the online parts catalogue doesn't always have the most up to date part numbers. Thanks.

Also heard of some dealers replacing them under warranty.

Can anyone help with the most up to date part number for the dash?

Yes thanks. It's 55401-60927-E0 on Partsouq but how can I know if that's the most up to date part number (free from manufacturer's defect)?
