I've just seen a clip of an early car assembly line where an opo was adjusting the valve clearances with the engine running before the engine was put into the car. Why, I guess it's quicker as you don't have to turn the crank by hand. Now back in the 50's my dad used to take the cover off our Morris Minor with a hot engine running and adjust the valves. He let me have a go and it was remarkably easy. I never adopted it though. Anyone heard of this?
