If the flickering follows no pattern, then it is a very good bet that
the alternator needs an overhaul. From personal experience it will be
OK when the regulator and brush box/brushes are renewed. Its not such
an expensive repair either. Another good sign of this problem is that
the relays behind the kick panel also click when the lights are flickering.
