I fitted my Foxwing for the first time today. I don't like the mounting brackets that come with the awning so made up my own brackets that slot into the ends of my Toyo roof bars. I wanted the Foxwing to sit as low as possible while not interfering with any of the doors - the top of the rear door is highest, but the last arm is also mounted at the top of the hinge. The front of the awning tucks in behind the snorkel and only sticks up 3-4 centimetres.

It's a shame you can't set it a bit further forwards because it looks like you will have a small uncovered area between the rear panel and the roof?

Yes, I'm not entirely happy with the gap (which only really becomes a problem when its raining), so I may turn the snorkel head around to face forward, and then move the awning forward about 10-15cm which should get rid of most of the gap. It would just mean cleaning the air filter more often. On the upside, the awning is adding very little drag tucked in like that.

I've had a similar problem when the FoxWing is set back to clear a roof tent. It's less of an issue with a lift up tailgate but my fix is going to be to run the RV5 caravan connector, or a bit of caravan awning skirt if that flaps about too much, in the awning channel I put on the rear roof bar and that will bridge the gap.

I think I might look into doing something similar, as I prefer to have the bug catcher facing backwards.

to combat rain in that gap at the back. my wife cut some old shower curtain to fit in the gap and i 6 fitted popper-studs to the edge of the foxwing skirt and the curtain, and then two loops at front corners of the shower curtain to affix to roofbars.
this worked well for light rain, but in a torrential thunderstorm one night in the alps, water pooled in the shower curtain and dripped through.
but it certainly stopped the torrent of rain and allowed us to keep boot door open.
i just needed to keep it taut or waterproof the showercurtain material.

Photo with the foxwing out please?

Well designed and made brackets

Any problems sourcing rectangular tube to fit into the roof bars?

I used solid bar sourced form a local fabricator - I think it was 10x20mm to fit my roof bars.
