Finally got the 120 on the road and took it for a spin, I had to pull over on a steepish little passing place to let a car go past. I prodded the throttle to go again and nothing happened it just didn't rev or move forward. I reversed back onto the level and it still would't rev, I turned it off and re-started and it was back to normal again. Plugged the Snapon machine in and it came up with P1226 Fuel line malfunction, I have fitted the 2 fuel valves red and green and also I changed the fuel filter last week. Any ideas would be appreciated
It is also a bit crap on starting too, not dreamy like my X5 is to start.

Can you pump the fuel primer, and is your filter on tight with new seals supplied and lubricated before fitting, could be air ?
Were you really particular about cleaning the area around your valves before changing. Any crap, big or small in there could give you problems ?

I'll have a look later on to see if it has been leaking from the filter housing and try the primer too. Super clean area in regards to fitting the new SCV solenoids as I was very careful. Because I bought the 120 drove it home then took the rear axle off to strip back to bare metal, I kind of got carried away so haven't really got familiar with it's general day to day driving. After replacing springs, shox, discs, callipers, brake pipes and flexi hoses, rack, SCV solenoids, and of course bottom arms and camber bolts plus blasted and powder coated wheels. ( It's all Shayne's fault!)
Now is time to drive. My X5 has died so I have had to get the 120 on the road ASAP.
Non return valve ordered thanks Shayne, next question is where would you suggest it can live?

Looks behind me for somebody else called shayne , wasn't me gov :confusion-shrug:

A leaking filter primer is a nightmare to diagnose , generally we pull everything else apart first so i'd put it right before the filter .

I had to blame someone Shayne for me modifying things as I wasn't going to spend any money on it when I got it, but I must say my Bilsteins do look good with my newly painted axle. :)
I was always told not to push the fuel primer down when changing the filter as the seals can perish with age ( but I forgot and primed it, but I did fill the filter first before fitting) I'll get that non return valve fitted once it comes. Thanks dude.

I think my primer started leaking through lack of use through zero mileage no servicing lockdown so i unscrewed the cap and squirted silicone oil in wherever i could and it seems to have fixed the problem .

Did you mean the primer but that you unscrewed? What else could I use as I don't have silicone oil?
I went to get my tracking/camber done today and it went into limp mode about 5 times, pulled over at Braddan bridge for 1 minute and left it running and went to set off 1500rpm max, turned it off and it was back to normal. Got to Snugbrough waited before turning in and it went into limp mode again , re started and back to normal. The strange thing is my Terrano use to need heat or a bit of time before starting even if warm and I was told it was probably a bit of an air leak in the fuel system near the tank, where as the 120 does it even if it is running.

That was my 80 , cant remember exactly what i removed , the pump bit cap ? just the only thing i could remove to spray something inside where i assumed there must be a rubber seal . Screwfix have silicone spray .

Your problem is far worse than mine was though ,are you sure the filter is on properly ?

My 120 has been sat for 4 or 5 months, I'll see if I can score some spray from them . Pretty sure filter is on right it isn't leaking but I will give it an extra tighten later on tonight.

Sometimes a filter just doesn't seal for no logical reason so id loose it off and wipe the rubber before tightening again .

Fuel filter is on the right as you face the vehicle on top near the bulkhead. The primer is the black knob on top. Press that a few times until it gets hard... Oo err

After pulling into the garage last night I did press the primer and got one and a half pumps before it got hard, and it had only just stopped running.

Sounds like a fuel pressure issue somewhere? Are you sure theres no fuel leaks anywhere?

I know techstream has a thing where you can turn the pressure right up to check for leaks - can you do that on your snapon machine?

I wonder if the pressure sensor on the common rail is returning sensible values - does all the wiring in that area look OK?

Pretty sure filter is on right it isn't leaking but I will give it an extra tighten later on tonight.

They only need to be hand tight really - that should be enough if the o ring is lubed and not snagged. Having said that, I think the person who did mine last used a scaffolding pole...

As far as I can see there are no leaks or any diesel smell but I'll check later on. As for the snapon machine I don't know really, I only bought it so I could plug it into my Holden Ute and I'm not clued up on high-tech computer gizmos. Maybe worth seeing if a local diesel specialist can diagnose the problem, but I do prefer to do my own work on my cars as I don't really trust people to do a good job.

Not sure Shayne, it didn't appear to have any water when I changed the filter last week.

How to test the common rail pressure sensor / valve with a multimeter
