dammit knew I should have said hello- the site is one that I "run" in
conjunction with 4x4 adventures- I just didn't have time to find you and
introduce myself.
I presume you are using silverstone remoulds which iiirc measure about 37"-
at least they did on my challenge truck. They use Michelin XZL carcasses
usually- it's a bit of a pity they don't seem to be available anymore!
out of interest where did you get the ring and pinion kit from for the 4.56
ratios? did you do the body lift yourself by ancy chance-if so, what
problems did you find- ie steering linkages not long enough, hi/lo shift
lever not long enough etc etc

Subject: Re: [ELCO] FW: Simex on a 80 series
I was at a challenge event near Taunton a few weeks ago. I have a dark
green 80 with 36" Simex copies. I have recently had my diffs regeared with
4.56's. It was OK with standard gearing but is better with the new ratio.
The car is a play thing and spends most of its time on the Simex type tyres.
The only time I change is when going on a overland trip, same size different
tread pattern.
I do get an occasional rub on full flex. My car has a 2" spring lift, 1"
body lift and some 1" spring spacers on the front. The spacers were to make
it sit more level rather than solve any rubbing problems. I don't have any
flares.
