Hi how much would HJ60 galvanised chassis be worth?

In where I live and in this part of the world, galvanizing would be costly. I would rather strip the metal bare, either by scraping or sand blasting. Then spray with epoxy primer. But before spraying the primer, I would first coat the chassis with a good rust converter.

Have you done this, or are you about to do this 24carrot?

From what I heard, galvanizing a J6 chassis is a bit risky in terms of bending it, due to heat. Also parts where the acid goes are hard to rinse out, causing rust later on. This is because the chassis are two welded C-channels basically....

I've only seen 1 galvanised chassis in my time with 60's and that was in Wales. Might it be the same one? I bought a petrol engined 60 and the galv chassis was in a shed as part of a resto project.

I have one and I am thinking of selling it .but not sure. what its worth .weather to sell or not .have a lot more bits as well .but I am now more in to my 80s

I galvanising some chassis from Nissan Patrol and Toyota Landcruiser FJ55.
Galvanising have good part and bad part...
Good part.. good protection for inside the chassis
Bad side..very hard to paint or weld after.

I snad blasting an weld bad parts. Before galvanising, go to acid cleaning. After that, if company who galvanising the chassis dont clean very god the frame, many dirt, dust, mud and rust remain inside the frame and is not good because the galvanising process cover this dirty parts. So, clean the frame very good after acid clean.

For paint before galvanising, you need special primers and special paint (expensive)

Here is a galvanising frame form FJ55:

Despite the downside of galvanizing, surely, if the acid dip is neutralized effectively, the end result has to be better than a simple paint job. JMO

I'm after some spare bits, things like a spare alternator and maybe some of the body fittings if they are better than mine. Also want some door cards for wind up windows.

How many alternators would you like Andy?
