Just been to see a mate who works down in Hereford at Trekitt and he was showing me the Nordisk Catalogue; they have some nice Cotton (big) tents... didn't dare ask the price...

I've bought it as I need something larger when wild camping with the boys, but not as large as the one I bring to Lincomb. As they are getting older they seem to be requiring more and more room and food as each day passes at the moment!!!! The Disc measures 93cm with the tent in it.not seen one that big before

It's not so bad! Not as quick as my smaller three man one that I've been using up till now. That you really can just flick out of the bag and throw in the air. This new one requires the ground sheet pegging out first then the tent pops up and fixes down to the ground sheet. Could probably do it in under five min I would have thought with all of the guy ropes and pegging out
Had to have a go with the Tear-Aid tent repair stuff.
When I went to put away the tent after it being up in the garden for three or four days airing I noticed a couple of small 25mm long parallel tears in it!!! I'm pretty certain that they weren't there when I put the tent up and have come to the conclusion that a bird may have caused them by landing on the tent!
After melting the running end of each tear with a soldering iron I stuck a patch of the Tear-Aid on each side and have to say it's worked really well. If I did it again I would probably cut the patch to overlap the damaged area a little more, but this repair will be fine due to the way I've overlapped each of the parches.
I used a decorating paper edge roller to make certain that each patch had stuck firm.

I got a King Goanna stretcher bed for Christmas, so need a tent to go round it.....
My plan was to get an Oztent RV5 which is ideal - basically I need one room that I can have the camp bed, a chair and small camp table - I dont need a seperate sleeping area/lounge as realistically Mrs Wobbly will never camp.
But....the cost, at least £750.00 new, even second hand they are expensive, if you can find one.
I dont know anyone I can borrow one from, nor is it possible to hire one, so looks like I need a cheaper alternative.
Basically I need one room around 2.2m x 2.2m and as much headheight as possible - I'm 6'1.
Any suggestions?

So did I Pete. Just spent two nights sleeping on it and the verdict is .... very good. Study, comfy and long enough to not have your feet resting on the bar at the end.
Wondering about an OT myself only this evening. Could you get two KGSB's in there side by side? I guess you can.

I havent slept on it yet - did you use a mattress on top to reduce the firmness?
Had a read of the oztent website, looks like an RV4 will be fine, but not exactly the budget version.
I did get a bit excited when I started lookeing the the Jet Tent F25, absolutely perfect for me, but then I looked at the £££, actually more expensive than the RV's....

Problem with looking at tents is that you sort of get sucked into it then before you know it - you have a selection of tents !

That latter one really doesn't stand up to the wind. I remember rescuing a lass after hers had collapsed. Alot of the plastic fittings had also broken. It was very windy though and I can't be sure it was pitched correctly. I'd take a look at the quecha base camp. You should still be able to get a tent liner for it.

Had a quick look at what Cotswold had, and they've got a nice looking Wild Country/Terra Nova that looks like it would do what you want, and be a bit more robust than the Decathlon ones.
The Robens gear was always nice as well, good quality and a reasonable price. Not the same mountain background as the Wild Country/Terra Nova, but still good quality.
For me, if there is the space for the stretcher I'd go for the Wild Country/Terra Nova as it has ali poles rather than fibre glass, and also has their background in tents. The Robens is a very close 2nd, as the poles look decent again. I don't mind the Decathlon gear, but I tend to get Quechua rather than the more basic kit - I have one of their waterproof jackets which was much better designed than any of the others that were on the market at the time, as well as a kit bag and GF has one of their rucksacks.
