Seeing as it's all things winch, I spotted this:

Thinking about when LB was dragging us through the mud and around trees with the rope being damaged, this would have been handy...

Easy to make one yourself.

while you're making yours can you make me one as well please

I might even be able to make one of these

I looked at those and concluded it's more stuff to lug around. I have three snatch blocks now and I just use one of those and a strop if I need to stand the rope off something. When recovering yourself, the rope actually doesn't move so you can use a mat or something on a rock if it's in the way. It's only when the hook is moving - ie recovering someone else, that the rope gets really punished.

By the way, a rock protector sleeve is available for the Dyneema too. It protects the first 6 feet or so.

the X-zag is pretty handy for all sorts of things- going round trees, over inclines, etc etc they are aso handy for lots of other stuff too- a pair make a nice base for a table, they are very handy for sawing on etc etc

you can get movable winch line protector sheafs though.
