Hello
My car is now on the autotrader site since this morning and ive not had a
call yet, yeh Im impatient!
Been told today that its worth me removing the alpine head unit and changer
from mine as it wont add to the vehicle value.
Do I sell it separately or install it in the yota?
Whats the quality like of the unbuilt stuff in the toyota?

Dyfed,
Take out the Alpine unit and put in a cheapie or the original.
Your Alpine is going to be better than the standard Toy. unit.
Regards, Clive.

Dyfed,
The gap in the dash is double size, I have a normal unit in mine
and I have got a cubby box that clips in the other slot, available
from Halfords for little cost. Mine is an import so it needed a
special adaptor lead to run the unit. The 80 has Two amplifiers built
in and Nine speakers (import).
Regards, Clive.

Right
The unit is now removed
Ive got these wires dangling out of the disco now
Do I snip all the connecting plugs off or not?

Dyfed,
Don't cut off the plugs. You can get adaptor leads to fit a new
unit. It is a good idea never to cut of plugs unless you are really
sure, if in doubt you can always scotchlock on to the wires behind
them until you are sure.
Regards, Clive.

Dyfed,
Be carefull. I had mine fitted by Halfords and they tried Two
adaptors before they got one to work. mine is an import and they
differ. I think the adaptor was for a Supra. Halfords fit for free if
you buy there but you already have a good unit so you have to do it.
If you try an adaptor from Halfords at least you can ask them to
change it if it is wrong, more difficult on the net.
Regards, Clive.

Good point
The unit I have cost me 400 quid inc the changer but this was 3yrs ago, but
I still like it a lot, it has more connectors hanging out the back
One pair saying front out
Another saying rear out
And another saying sub-w
?
I know what the last one is but the others I aint so sure about

Hi Guys
Just thought I would join in. I have a cd player in the cruiser and I am
seriously thinking of changing it to a tape deck, I have a pain in the you
know what at all my cds skipping. I think it has something to do with our
good roads here.

I think ive found the answer to skipping and cd's..
My mate has an audi s8 and has just bought an mp3 player which is stored on
a hd, and it plugs into a cradle for your pc and a cradle in the car..
www.phatnoise.com
Im seriously considering it
However in the meantime
My changer has never skipped, mainly cos I keep the cd's clean :)

Hey Dyfed
I think it has something to do with all the pot holes and traffic calming
ramps we have here that disagrees with the cds.

John,
If you want the best of both try to get a unit out of a Colorado.
They have a tape behind the front face and a 10 stacker under the
passenger seat.
Regards, Clive.
