I wouldn't pay that but it has given me an idea and I can't find any others that are a straight fit .

Did anyone ever find adjustable pressure struts that won't have me drilling holes in bodywork ?

Can original struts be regassed to take more weight ?

There are a few companies that sell adjustable gas struts, I bought some for my roof. They come gassed up and you then release the pressure until you get to what you need. They sell as a custom part, you select the fittings you require on each end and the length. SGS were I think the company I used.

Thanks Gr8Yota I was looking at the SGS options after I posted and only then learned you can reduce pressure via a grub screw which lends some confidence .

Really no point in asking how much an 80 series upper tailgate weighs and I really don't want to remove it just to put it on a scale .
