Hi Folks,
I have my HighLift Jack mounted on the reardoor of my Prado 120 when
travelling long distances. I have with this arrangement had two jack
failures.
1st Time in the Sahara, with the following symptoms:
The Jack operates fine when lifting, but it will not go down again.
I have to manually manipulate the pins for it to go down.
A thorough clean of pins and mechanism with rags and air-blast makes no
difference, only
a complete strip down cures the problem with access to all the surfaces and
removal of an
almost invisible fine dust coating.
2nd Time in Iceland, where the condition in parts of the interior is not
unlike the conditions in
the Sahara with plenty of fine dust and a particle size similar to that of
talcum powder,
symptoms as above.
Has anybody else had similar problems & know of a cure, other than the
purchase of a new
Jack or perhaps a different make.
