Home made metal bender

That wasn't a five minute job. Very impressive. Love it when they make the handwheel for the machine actually on the machine

Nice vid Dervis, love to see such strength in a piece of equipment, everything seems to be made so flimsy these days.

Love it!

Magic !

If only it was that easy .

There was a good tip there . . When making frames out of box-section, just tack-weld them until the structure is complete THEN seam-weld it all. It twists like Bu**ery if you don't (DAMHIK ).

Bob.

I liked his horizontal welding. I struggle with that and vertical too. I think that there is a great deal of the success of that down to the quality of the welding set. Skill too absolutely, but a really good set makes a huge difference to your welding. I think I might upgrade mine soon. it's good for most stuff, but I'd like to go 200 amp plus and maybe even go inverter / electronic. It's done some work has that little set.

Thanks for that - obviously not a quick job but made to look easy. :icon-cool:

So how much would a machine like that cost to buy? Obviously only worth doing if you have frequent need of one but looks like a lot of work albeit very well done.

Impressive but i too want the welder particularly if it comes with a fast forward button :D

What do you call them ones Tig MIG or something else ?

This is my favorite home built bender!

@Ben has been making his own tools again I see… :)

Certainly have Rich. :icon-biggrin:

Mine are a bit more basic than the ones above.

I made a sheet metal bender for my bench which will comfortably bend 3mm alluminium and 2mm steel, up to 800mm wide.

Was useful when I built a radiator cowl for my V8 conversion.

And I made some 12mm thick fingers which will allow me to bend boxes up to 250mm deep.

I also made my own version of this for my vice, which will bend up to 5mm thick flat bar. Very useful for making brackets. :icon-biggrin:
