Had an accident today, first of all, I'm fine - or I will be soon. I had nasty accident but I'm ok. I went horse riding and let's just say it didn't end up quite as planned. I got on the horse OK and started out slowly but he started to speed up and we were going faster than I was comfortable with until we were going as fast as the horse could go! Have to admit I was terrified!! Then the worst thing ever happened - I fell off and caught my foot in the stirrup and the horse was dragging me around in a circle. It wouldn't stop, it just kept going round and round. Thank God the store manager at Tesco's came out and unplugged the carousel.

Oh brother…!

Saw these in Hungary. Great fun for the kids (of small and large varieties).

Not such a good photo but they are on wheels on each hoof which lock one way but turn the other. The rider pushes down on a bar with their feet and the seat rises, then by this action and sitting down, the front and rear legs get closer or further apart. You steered by turning the head.

I wish I could upload the video I have as it would show it well.

You got me going there Chas, you clown!

I don't like horse riding, well that's not really true, but I just can't do it. Years ago, one of the secretaries at work, who owned 3 horses, invited me for a tour one Saturday. I said I couldn't ride but she was adamant that she'd teach me, it's so easy, she said.

Ok, walking a horse is one thing, but breaking into a trot, I was all over the place, try as I may to get into the rhythm. So we walked the horses, for some 5 or 6 miles.

She got sooooo bored, I quite enjoyed, but I'm sure it would have been better if I'd been able to trot or canter.

She never asked again, bless her.

Yes, the one and only time I've been on a horse exactly the same happened to me, because I'd never ridden before they said we'll give you a placid horse, HORSE? it must have been as big as the Trojan horse, well apparently it was 16 hands but it looked huge to me. It was placid though but it went just where it pleased the only thing I was able to do with it was stop it.

My Neice loves and rides horses. I tell her I don't like them because the brakes only work in an advisory capacity.

Should have seen her face when I told her they should all be turned into burgers. :-)
She did smile. Eventually.

My daughter loves horse riding too, the trot rhythm came naturally to her and she was away! I'm quite envious how easy she finds learning these things.

Still she's hooked on the iPad games, we have to wrench the damned thing out her hands to get her to go outside :persevere:

It's addictive, I'm hooked on it, riding a galloping horse is an amazing experience.
