I've been after one of these for a while but found the new price hard to get my head round. This came via the local tyre place from a guy who left and let me settle his outstanding. 6 months old still under guarantee. I've had a half inch IR air wrench 38 years and its never gone wrong so I thought this would be OK.
The guys at the tyre place use these nowadays instead of air all the time, anyone on the forum have any experience of this type?

No, looks smart though, what sort of price is it? Been thinking of a battery operated one to use when out in the LC if needed.

I Expect that would be a packet new. Bet Andy paid around 55p ? Lol

I bought a Milwaukee 18v Richie £250ish best thing to date I have bought.

No experience of the product but Ingersoll Rand are mahoosive; looks to be a cracking bit of kit as ever Mr Lomas :-)

They are around £600-£650 new and not very common S/H I gave £300 to clear the outstanding. There will be sometime this will be invaluable out on the road or during a breakdown situation with either HGV's or 4x4's. The battery life is apparently very good (should be for the money). Just been researching a bit on the net and they are more powerful than the air version!!
I will have a play tomorrow.

The IR stuff is really good, lad at work has one like that. Imo better then the dewalt 1/2" one I've got and I'd have one over a snap on 1/2" one (not 3/8" though as the snap on ones of those are great)

Used to use a DeWalt a fair bit (mate had a full set of tools from them so plenty of batteries)

Makes an engine strip down much quicker, and all manner of other car related tasks, used a Snap on one the other day which was an interesting comparison to what I know.

The snap on 1/2" ones are really powerful but for the money I'd have the IR one. The 18v dewalt one I've got was £300 new and it's good but not as powerful as the IR or snap on ones, battery life isn't great but came with 2.

I use a snap on 3/8" one and found it better then some others (had a few) good power, good battery life and not too expensive for a change!!!
Use a 1/4" driver (snap on) and the Bosch ones run rings round the snap on ones!!

You've got a bargain for what you've paid and worth every penny

Have to have a hunt round, have an air one but a battery one would be certainly useful.

I had a dewalt impact wrench and found it fantastic! sadly it went missing :( :(

Just bought a refurbed s/h snap on one. Needs a battery as it turns out :(

I've needed one for years. I also have an air one. The air one has more grunt than my cordless, but the cordless Is so handy. I love it

I replaced my Dewalt gear with Milwaukee when I moved to lithium ion. I use a milwaukee 18v impact driver rather than an impact wrench as it happened to come in a kit with a drill for a good price. just bought some attachments so I could use sockets as well as normal driver bits. It is really good, very quick for dismantling. Both it and the drill are beautifully weighted, comfortable to hold and feel really well made. The only thing is the lack of variable torque settings means you have to be careful if doing stuff up.

For stripping parts with large numbers of screws/bolts it's an absolute godsend.

Andy how are you finding your impact driver??

I am in the market for one and i think the same model has come up second hand but a couple of months old for £300 on gumtree.

Mods can we maybe merge this thread with the other one i posted in as they both about impact drivers.

Warren, its brill, very powerful so you have to be careful but it has its limitations as far as accessibility is concerned. There are a lot of situations on a Cruiser you can't get it in. Its better suited to HGV fitting or bench work.
Hope this helps

Andy

I have the 1/2" snap on one which is great but used the 3/8" one which would be better as its a lot smaller body and all but as powerfull.
