Imported Jap 80s

It was interesting having a good chance to poke around a 24 valve Jap
import, something that I hope to upgrade to in the near future.
Whilst the Jap models have a few extra bells and whilstles like
retracting door mirrors, adjustable suspension (which we removed) and
even a DVD player on Dennis' I was surprised by a couple of things;
The inner beams on the headlights are actually fog lights on the
imports, not main beams like on the UK models - is there more fog in
Japan?
Also, the imports don't have the headlight beam hight adjuster on the
dash like the UK models, I guess they don't do so much towing.

Something else to add to that - the 54/55mm Draper/Sealey hub nut
sockets don't appear to fit Dennis' '96 import - I don't know if this
is because the specific to the Jap imports or to the post '95 models.
Basically the hub wall is thicker, with the outside diameter remaining
the same, leaving a narrower internal diameter - I would probably need
to shave around 1-2mm off the outer wall of the socket to get it to fit
- or be patient and get one of the Snap-on 54mm thin walled sockets
sent over from Slee Off Road.
Fortunately I have a 54mm box spanner that did the job after an
extremely scientific approach to working out the correct torque ;-)
