Injector pump woes again

Hey JB,
Are you still using Tesco fuel :o)))
I'm probably talking out of my rear end again, especially as I don't
have a turbo engine or slushbox. But does the IP not have a
compensator like the aircon diaphragm which reacts to the slushbox -
or does it even share the aircon compensator? If it does, have you
checked that the diaphragm is not punctured and is functioning effectively?
Or alternatively, are there not any test procedures listed in your
manual to check the rise in revs according to your gear selection
etc., just the same as there are for the aircon activation?
Sorry if I am barking up the wrong tree !
Best of luck.
Cheers

Hi Jon,
That's a point, ISTR that the Throttle Position Sensor on the pump
links through to a few things and if not setup properly can cause a few
problems.
John - search through the 80scool archives at
http://www.birfield.com/modules.php?name=Archives and do a search for
TPS - you might be able to find out more about it.
When I have some more time later today/tomorrow I'll check through the
manuals and try to give you a summary of what influences the pump and
what the throttle influences - an understanding of how it all links
together will hopefully identify where the problem is.

Thanks Jon and Julian
Julian it would be great if you could shed any light on what could be the
problem.
Its very hard trying to guess what is wrong when I dont have a clue about
what is going on with the pump.
It was very interesting when the pump guy increased the fuel a little, the
amount of extra power from the engine was great, but sadly the smoke was
also higher.
Geese if you could have the extra power without the smoke, now that would be
great.
I seem to be plagued by stupid very hard to fix problems from time to time,
if that is the fault of the guys working on it or not I dont know, but its
a pain.
I acquired a drawing of a pump just to see what is what inside and sure I
may as well been looking at the inner workings of a cockpit of a jumbo jet.
Not a clue what was what in the pump.

Hi Guys
I have been getting some info just to help my pump guy track down the
problem with my injector pump. Not that I really should have to in the real
world but I wonder what all these experts know and dont know then start
guessing.
Anyway I have been given two part numbers , one fron 80scool and the other
from AAI but they are different .
So does anyone know which is which, thay are 22317-54730 and 22314-54010.
thanks

John,
Get a s/h pump from AAI, have it fitted and set up by a qualified, I
repeat QUALIFIED, diesel technician and forget the whole business.
That's what I did some years ago and now I don't worry about injection
pump problems.

Hey Roman
Its been a while since I robbed a bank so ill pass on spending the 1000 or
so euro on a new injector pump.
The cruiser has already had enough of my money , more than its value if I
was to sell so ill keep the costs down if I can.
Ill give the cruiser back to the pump guy and cross all me fingers and toes
he can fix it right this time after all he did get paid to fix it in the
first place.

John,
Did I say "a new injector pump"? I paid 250 euro for a second hand
pump three years ago and that was it. End of problems.
