Interior ventilation fan is squealing/whining

The fan on the interior (front) fan is squealing - a high pitched continuous whining. TBH it's been doing this for a couple of years but it's gradually getting worse or I'm getting more attuned to it - and find it more annoying. (BTW I always have the fan on, even at the slowest speed)

Now I don't really want to start taking the dash off or anything complicated like - and had heard (somewhere) of people spraying silicone down the intake for similar issues? Not sure if that is a old wives' tale or not.

Anyone done similar?

If I did want to remove the center console panel/dash to access the fan (I'm not even sure whether it is behind the center console or the glovebox?) - what would it involve? If it is a lengthy process, I might just live with it.

Hi chard. Have a read of this thread. You will find the fan is just next to the rheostat and easily removed, then you can spray the rotor directly
