Inverters

Careful with that maplin one as it is a modified sine wave rather than pure sine wave. Could have problems depending on what you want to run off of it.

The 1000w is only for up to 20 mins if you look at the specs.

EDIT: just read the other posts so you already know

Installed a 300w inverter in our 78 today ... it works fine too

yup and also power the net book, and charge the camera & mobiles if needed

Just out of curiosity ... can the unit be dismantled and hidden somewhere and the switch and socket/usb on the centre consol or something. ???

It can be hidden so long as there is air flow for it (i.e. don't put it in a box)
You could switch the input with a relay.

Can't see that yours has a fan so it might be ok but could be a problem if you every run it 100% for a while. Try it first, if get warm / hot, then I would not enclose it.

yep ... it does have a fan. .. the unit won't be in use all the time

Woo woo, that's a lovely neat job Carl.
