Willem-Jan,
AFAIK a heated windscreen is a popular option for Range Rover and Discovery.
It would be nice to have it in my LC, but I'd be happier if I could
get heated side miirrors. It's a pain to wipe them in the morning,
particularly when the front door window motors refuse to pull the
glass up or down.

Morning Roman,
I suffer the same as you - slow windows on wet cold days.
I had this with my last 80 and msnaged to solve it by stripping down the mechanism and re-lubricating with a dry lubricating grease.
I also scrubbed out the runners and then used a silicone spray like back to black to lubricate the rubbers.
On one side I even stripped down the motor to clean out the commutator.
A bit of a long process, but they ran as new.
At the momment I am surviving with a cut down window cleaning blade to get the damp off the side windows and mirrors in the morning.
Cheers,
Julian

Julian,
I have tried all those tricks, too. It helped for a little while,
after which front window action becomes so slow they need to pushed up
by hand. One thing I haven't tried is swapping front and rear window
motors.

Hi Guys
I have the same problem with the windows and have asked the toyota dealer
whats wrong , he dident know. And this was after putting in a new motor, new
other bits cant remember the names, I think track arm and some thing else.
It made no difference at all and as Roman said some times you have to pull
the windows up with your two hands. This is bad enough if you can stop but
usually its when you are on a mororway or in a busy line of traffic. Is it
because the motors are not strong enough and can this motor be replaced by a
stronger one. Jon in Serbia how does your windows hold out in that cold
weather.

John for sure has a manual window crank, no motor....:))
(although in the current series of import HZJ105's, it can be ordered, or even
comes stock....but those are not necessarily Standard-trim, like an UN-80
probably is)
Btw, anyone ever tried to clean the runners & felt with steam?
(like those household steam-cleaners can provide)
Want to attack some old layers of tectyl with that too one day....

I haven't tried steam, but have tried other cocktails - anything to clear the runners of all the crap that builds up in it.
Well I'm off to Salisbury Plain in an hour or so, it is a shame the you others on the list scattered around Europe and the Northern reaches of the UK can't make it.
Next year I might try to organise a much bigger event that might tempt you to come along.
