Hi guys, as the title says I’m a Land Rover owner with just two LRs currently to my name. A Range Rover classic for restoration & a Range Rover L322 Autobiography as my daily driver. I’ve owned a number of Range Rovers & a couple of Discovery’s over the years & not got any horror stories or major issues to tell you of. Partly I think due to the fact that I looked after them with proper maintenance.
My kids moved down to Devon last month from Worcestershire with their mum which is a 200 miles journey for me &
I want something bulletproof that I won’t have to worry about breaking down on me. Even though I’ve never had any major issues with any Land Rovers or Range Rovers I've owned, the thought of putting big miles on my current Range Rover doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence. It’s got 146k on it but I just don’t trust it to do over 200k.
Now you know why I’m here & it’s because I kept hearing about this Landcruiser reliability & I needed to get one to do the mileage. I bought a 2002 D4D Auto in VX trim, 205,000 miles on the clock & FSH. I actually got it cheap as the previous owner sold it with a faulty gearbox, I was quite prepared to have the box reconditioned but its showing no signs of trouble at present. I will keep on driving it local before any long journeys to see if the fault appears, which I assume it will at some point.
I must admit, it is starting to grow on me as at first I was a little disappointed with the ride quality but it does have a certain character to it. I've already started making it my own so I guess I'm keeping it for the foreseeable future.
