Looking for front wings (80)

It's that bad then!! Inner looks ok at least.

The wing I repaired was perfectly fine untill I took the arch extension off

That bit that you've shined up there Gary - is gone on mine. I'm doing re constructive surgery but without knowing what the original actually looked like.

I cut it out and made a new bit but sounds like yours has properly gone!!

The clip in the wing for the arch plus the mud flaps etc just hold mud imo.
I modified the arch extension so drains/cleans out better with a cone drill. Where the mud flap meets the extension in that area.

If all else fails that bit isn't visible with the plastics on lol.

When it comes to new wings eventually give me a shout if you need a paint guy? Can have a word with my mate if you want.

Boo Hoo Hoo Not. Back in the day the cars I restored had structural chassis and sills in worse condition than anything shown so far.

These 80's are like a drip dry shirt. The bottoms last to dry.

Cheers Gary. Might need to.

I do remember way back in the early 70's helping someone stuff sills with sponges dipped in 'David's P38', throw in a few bundled newspapers, old paint brushes, anything to fill the holes, coat of body Shutz and job done for the MOT

Along comes Mary Hopkins "those were the days my friend. ...la la la" :icon-biggrin:

Regards

Dave

We did upgrade to fibreglass and mesh like Chris, after an accident you can pick up the pieces and glue them together. :laughing-rolling:

Lol, yeah. The good thing with filler and fibre glass is its rust proof, and lighter than the metal its replacing, fuel economy will improve and the planet will be saved, and that north korean bloke will chill out a bit also. Etc..

I was time served with Vauxhall when nova's, mk2 Astra's and Cavaliers still came in for services etc, welding them back together was almost a daily job.

Restored/owned a few older cars too, classic Mini's, mgb gt, triumph spitfire and for my sins a reliant scimitar :puke-front:

The bit on my wing was bugger all lol.

@Chris Just give me a shout, I'll be at Lincomb anyway at the end of the month, you can see his work first hand (I'll make sure it's clean) mine being black shows everything.

Let me guess. Rear arches. Iv had a mk11 sri and 130. Mk111 gsi 2000 and the fabled 4×4 turbo. Should never of sold the turbo. Loved that car..

Arches, inner arches front and rear, sills, boot floors. They were rot boxes. When the corsa B came out they were just as bad for sills.

Mk2 Sri 130 was my first car followed by a mk1 cav 2 door coupe (old v reg), added all the kit to make it look like a manta gte. My first rwd car that ended up the same way as my 130  just left the road pointing a different way

MGB GT, total rot box...

I wasted 6 months of my life (trying to) restore one of those, absolute waste of time.

My 300Tdi Disco was 4 years old when I bought it and 11 years old when I sold it. Wasn't too bad body wise but the dreaded galvanic corrosion was starting to rear it's head by then. How long had LR been making steel framed, aluminium skinned vehicles and they still couldn't get it right. No idea what the newer models are like.

£248.90 all in Andy. For OEM.
I read it wrong(ly) on my phone.

Old wing coming together. I used a load of that mesh to get some shape. Another stint tomorrow should have it roughly wing shaped.

Hi Chris

My front wings are goosed and this thread gave me a kick in the arse to get them sorted. I emailed Milner last night and they said they can't get any. Do you mind me asking who you talked to?

Many thanks

Rob

I spoke to Julia and Carl too. He confirmed they were available to order. I mailed Carl and asked if there was anything doing for a group buy. He's not replied.
