Hi everyone, I came off a muddy track today and heard a bang which I thought was a stone hitting my arch. Drove into Tesco and pulling into a space heard a loud bang and people looked over so must’ve been loud outside haha. Then on my way home, setting off from some traffic light it done it again so I got worried an had a quick check and nothing looked broken or snapped. Got home and pulling up the drive done it again so tried to see when it does it and it does it under harsh acceleration, accelerating round a tight corner or jolting

I had a good nose round to check for anything loose or broken and noticed my upper and lower control arm bushes and diff mount bushes are all Ruined with a bit of play when using a pry bar

could this be the cause of the loud bang or is there any other common problems? Recently replaced drivers side wheel bearing and upper and lower ball joints and track rod end

thank you!

Lower arm bush rubber was likely welded with rust and your offroad bump freed it up so arms are now a 1 ton hammer tapping the frame mount when you turn .

Thank you! That sounds reassuring! The transfer case can be lifted slightly from underneath, could them rubbers being worn cause it as well or most likely arms?

Does it matter when the arm bushes are years overdue for replacement , i do remember giving the transfer rubber some thought while i was replacing all my bushes though and deciding its supposed to have some free play so i never changed it .

Sorry I’ll still get them im just worried about the loud clunk, I don’t know if it’s something really expensive so ideally wanted to try figure out what could cause it and go from there before spending a few hundred on bushes haha

mill try the upper and lower control arm bushes fist and see if it still does it, thank you
