Main Beam Delay

When I first twist the knob to turn on my low beam it works fine.

Occasionally when I flick the stalk forward for main beam my lights will go out for 2 or 3 seconds.
After that it usually works fine

Any suggestions?

Dirty contacts at the base of the dip switch. Pull the steering wheel off, pull the switch out and clean up the contacts with some emery paper. Then reassemble. If it fixes the problem but doesn't last long, replace the entire switch.
