Hi everyone,

New here, all the way from Belgium

My name is Geert (Gerard in English)
I own a '92 HDJ 80 VX series
- 3 working lockers :)
- a currently not working a/c :( (due to leak in alu pipe from rubbing against the chassis) will be fixed soon
- front ARB bumper and winch
- custom made roofrack (extended wilderness rack)
- eezi awn roof tent
- 2.5" OME lift with extra heavy load springs in the back
- 33" tires
- safari snorkel
- oil cooler for transmission
- extra diesel tank where the spare tire used to be (is a standard tank from a 70, fits perfect there, small switch on the dash to pump it from this one to the main)

I use the car for work sometimes (muddy construction sites) and for travelling.

I came across Malcolm (Mal Eade) this summer in Spain. He had a big sticker of this forum on his 80, so here I am :)

And a typo in the topic title... D'OH
from Belgium... but you figured that out I suppose...

welcome to the forum Geert, good choice of vehicle and sounds like you have it set up well :icon-cool: I will be the first to say where are the pictures then? We want proof

Don't know what you mean about the typo :shifty: :icon-wink:

Hi Geert,

From our trip to spain this summer

We went to Iceland in 2010, rental 4x4, then the 4x4 virus started...
So, I started looking for a 4x4...
A lot of people recommended a 80
And because 80's in Belgium are rare to begin with and rarely have lockers, I bought a UK version :)
This summer another trip, destination not determined yet
Want to go far away someday.... :)

Welcome to the club Geert.

Nice 80.

Hi Geert

Glad to see you on the Forum.

Pictures to prove you were there and to even out the numbers Land-rovers 2 Land Cruisers 2.

Charles and I are going back 20 February to do it again but in the SNOW this time. Like to come with us.

Welcome Geert, a very similar year spec and colour to my 80, good choice

I'm interested to know more about your additional fuel tank setup, did you fit it? What is its capacity and how is it filled.

Hi Malcolm!

20 february, in the snow, very tempting, but I cannot get any more vacation days... :(
Also short on cash because of my house that is nearly ready (another 6 months I guess)

About the spare tank system: It's a reservoir of a 70 series (85l). A tank of a 105 would be a better choice because more solid material. But I got the 70 tank for free :)
You have to replace the filler neck by a double one. Left and right a hole. I first fill up the main tank and then the aux tank.
Install a pump somewhere under the car that pumps diesel form the aux tank to the main tank. Put a switch on the dash.
Very simple system but very cheap in comparison to the after market or orginal systems.
I monitor my fuel gauge of the main tank (only one I got ) and if that is almost empty I hit the siwth on the dash and it starts pumping fuel form the aux tank into the main one.
It takes about 15 - 20 minutes to pump it all. Then the main is back full.
You just have to remember if you're aux tank is full or empty :)

A landcruiser specialist here in Belgium installed it for me. He does it all the time but mostly with 105 tanks.
