Hi all,

New to the forum and the Land Cruiser world. I ran across a 65 the other day and am very interested in buying it. My biggest concern is the originality. The value of these seems to be all over the board and I'm cant determine what I should be paying if it checks out (mechanically, body, and interior). I have attached some photos. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everybody

Looks smart.

Difficult to say if its completely original or not though.

Thanks for the quick feedback Ben. Is there any good reference material or website you could recommend that would help me out with what would be original for this year? They are asking 10k and it seems to be a pretty good deal. Im a newbie so I really appreciate any help.

Well when I said original, what I actually meant (but probably wasnt very clear about ) was the paint work!

The paintwork looks really good, maybe too good to be original. So has it been garaged and lovingly cared for all these years and is original, or has it been restored and re-sprayed.

Cant really recommend any good websites I'm afraid but it might be worth giving SOR a call. IMHO their probably the best people to speak to for advice on older cruisers in the US.

Theres also 2 forums that are more US based that may be useful to you:

Thanks again. Very helpful. You're correct about the paint. It was repainted about 3 years ago. The owner said no accidents and no rust just repainted. From AZ originally.

Hi Grasshopper,

Take a note of the VIN number - either on the bulkhead plate or right-hand-front chassis leg - and put it into toyoDIY.com
Metal door cards, upright dash handbrake, right shape hardtop, rear door and spare wheel mount - all suggest originality. May also be worth looking in Toyota Land Cruiser Data Library.

If VIN numbers are confusuing , photgraph it and post it and I'm sure between us we can analyse it for you. You would then know what you should be seeing!

Hope that helps

Regards
