They have a worm gear and the sprocket is nylon that wears then the rest siezes if i remember corectly

Lol. After owning a Discovery with a sun roof you should b grateful you can't open it. Mine was open even when it was shut

I had cut this out of a Colorado a few years ago that I broke.
Almost identical to the one on my 80.
Except this ones manual.

Hi Andy I’m probably going to convert it to the manual mechanism that I cut out of the Colorado.
I will let you know if I have a change of plan.

So decided to pop the passenger rear glass out to see the extent of the rust.
Going to mask off with shot blast proof tape and see what I’ve got left.
