I can't remember how we paid for them at the time (IIRC it was around £70). Mine has started SWMBO's Yaris several times as it tends to run down it's battery over time doing so many short journeys. It's also used as a mobile power source in the car on long trips etc.
I suppose as with many things these days, the packaging and "presentation" of the item leads us to believe that it is of much higher quality than it actually is.......oh well, you live and learn.

Point taken on quality issues Chadr, but blatant lies on the packaging is something that should be brought to book. 1,000 amps, where did that number come from? It certainly isn't supported by any of the components in that device, and it's not a derived theoretical number either.
It's lies, unfair and anything but square.
Yep and that's my problem with it. It's not fit for purpose, there is no possibilty of any of the components used that it could output anywhere near 1000amps.
When I first watched the video it really did explain a lot. I've used Trevs to try and start various vehicles and I don't think it's ever done the job, it wouldn't even start a 1.8l petrol with a battery that wasn't overly unhealthy!
For a company to just flat out lie about a products capabilities is appalling. I'm sure if I sold a similar product that actually just contained 10 AA batteries I'd end up in sorts of trouble.

I'm in no way defending Noco or countering the points you've made Mr D, but I'll add that mine has started a 1.8 (MX-5) with a flat battery several times in the last 6 months. I've never had to try it on the Cruiser but it might be just about up to it as the 3.4V6 doesn't need a huge amount of cranking power - certainly much less then the 3.0TD.

In all fairness some of that might come down to the quality of your particular unit, when it has been put together like it has, who's to say what the quality control is like.
As I suggested, quality is one issue, lies are another.
A very different product I know, but I've just bought a 6000 mAH (so it says) device charger for my iPhone & iPad. I had a choice of 1200, 2000, 3000, & 6000, at various prices. Made in China designed in the Netherlands (so it says), but what to believe after seeing this, the guts in each could be identical, if they're lying.
It's called a Power Bank Air, so they've obviously stolen the 'Air' from Apple.
Only used once since buying it yesterday and it did what it says on the tin. Looks good, with a nice solid feel to it and nicely finished on the outside. Good features too, double USB outlets and a nice integral wraparound and stowable strip cable USB charger cable.
I'm itching to know what's inside now
The blue charge cable stows nicely in a moulded recess and underneath it is a micro USB 'alternative' charge inlet, presumably for when the blue ribbon cable snaps off

I watched a programme where China had built a car that looked almost identical to a BMW. BMW took the car maker to court (in China of course) and lost, of course they did!
Here the Chinese shops are all over the shop (see what I did there?), I always stated that the Chinese shops were only good for plastic washing up bowls and gloves. The gloves are still good, but the last washing up bowl I purchased was POROUS!!
Anything made in China has to depend where it is made, my last three Samsung Galaxy phones worked perfect except when I drop them, so I cannot blame them for that, I'll keep that for the EU debate.
At the end of the day (apart from getting dark) you get what you pay for....unless it is made in China!

In the old days I was often able to start a car with a flattish battery with a little help from the starting handle with an assistant turning the key. In fact on the Range Rover I built my uncle turned the key and had his foot on the throttle whilst I cranked the engine with the handle. Unfortunately he was completely deaf and did not hear the engine start and did not take his foot off the floor boards until I ran round to the door and signed to him that the engine was screaming. No damage done.
I nearly broke my wrist on a Series 3 starting handle!

I have a similar thing, however having taken it apart the battery is 3x the size of that. I have abused it (would be an understatement) fried the plastic clamps first as power only goes to one side of them, so I made some new ones. It actually does some serious cranking, I was faffing about with diesel pumps... Then it got hot (very) due to excessive use & I think I have finally killed it.
Mine is the 16,500 ah rated black & green ones you see on ebay etc, the leads are crap but the rest of it is ok.

I think what they are exploiting here is the lithium ion battery's ability to dump a huge amount of current in a short space of time. This was from 2008 and battery technology has come on since then:-
