O/D light is flashing

While we are on the subject of codes, my overdrive light keeps flashing , and has been since August 2008, that's about when I can remember it starting, the overdrive switches in and out OK but the light flashes 6 flashes, pause then 4 flashes pause then repeats, any ideas please

A flashing O/D light means the gearbox ECU has detected a fault and is warning you. There is a proceedure in the FSM to short some connections on the diagnostics port to have the light flash the fault code which you can then look up in the FSM.

I remember now it was while I was in Croatia in 2008 that it started flashing, so that's over two years and no problem has arisen yet is the sequence of 6 the 4 flashes not the code? I don't have the FSM to look it up.
