Odd noise from rear

During this cold weather, I have had 2 occasions where the truck seems to have the rear brakes bind when leaving the drive in the morning. the truck is parked on a 15 degree incline facing uphill. The binding seems to cure itself after 300 yards or so. Today it did the same but a little further on there was a low but loud clicking noise from the rear which then went after half a mile.

I can't see anything physically when looking around or under the truck, does anyone know of a symptom like this during really cold weather, something freezing maybe?
