oil stain

Hi Guys
Ah it has been way too quiet of late so her goes with a question.
I had to check under the bonnet today because of a problem. More about that later.
I found a new oil stain on the large hose leading from the air filter housing to the turbo.
Its just a little oil stain at the joint nearer the housing.
I checked inside the filter housing and there is only a little at the bottom where the hole is.
I checked in the pipe and.its only a little moist.
So what could be the cause of the oil stain.
cheers

Hi John,
I am not very good with engines and turbo's, but I would suspect the oil is
from the Turbo.
Now it could be normal as there is always some oily mist from the turbo.
If its excessive amounts then it would suggest the turbo seals/bearings are
on the way out.
Does it smoke a lot or the turbo whistle excessively.
I would not have expected to see oil spilling into the air filter housing?
But I am NO expert.

John,
The breather from the top of the egine runs in to the pipe going from the air filter housing to the turbo - the oil you are seeing is probably from the oily air from the engine.
If there is a stain on the outside of the hose, the may be a small leak there or if it is on a joint, the joint may be loose.
Hope that helps.

This is getting a little silly, I know that the server has had problems, but this is too much.
I'll shift the list over to another server over the Xmas break.
