Parts software

Hi Guys,
I was just a local (non-official) toyota workshop, and when I asked
for some parts, they looked it up in a computer program that had
exploded views of all parts of all landcruiser models, when clicking
on a part, you'd get the part number and the price.
Now... anybody got that software? ;-)
Cheers,
Fred

Hi Frederik,
Out of interest, who was that - how do their prices compare to the
dealers?
You are referring to the Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC) disks. You
can pick them up on ebay for not much. I offered copies out to list
members a while back and will do again at some point, but don't have
the time to deal with it at the moment.
A quick search on ebay for Toyota EPC reveals a number of auctions for
it. Most are for European models and will cover all Toyota cars and
4x4s, but if you hunt around you should also be able to pick up one
that covers Japanese models (for those with imports).
The Euro specific ones seem to be on DVD whilst the Euro and Japanese
ones seem to be on a 7 disk set.

Is it the same that can be downloaded here(in the process of doing
so): http://www.yankeetoys.org/docs.htm

Hi Frederik,
Oh, OK. Sorry for some reason I thought you were in the UK.
As a note to you an others, it's always useful to put your name,
location and details of your LC in the signature to your messages to
help out when responding to messages.
I think Roman or someone else tried those - I'm not sure if they cover
the European models - if you have the correct set for your area you can
just type in the VIN number (or Frame number and various other bits for
Japanese models) and then you can pull up all the correct part numbers
- the Yanketoys version may just cover the US models so may not have
details of diesel models etc. You should be OK for some body parts.

Hi guys;
Just picking up on the thread while the yankee stuff is downloading.
Been looking for a decent EPC on ebay for a while now. Never got around
to buying one.
I bought a Merc G EPC a while back from a guy in Germany, an official 2005
issue.
Are the official Toy CD's hard to come by??
Rainy day greetings

Hi,
The yankeetoys EPC is a bit of a pain to set up but works OK.
Frederik, out of interest, what's the name of the 4x4 garage in B?

Hi Chris,
Most of the ones I looked at on ebay are copies of the official Toyota
ones - I don't think there are any other versions floating around.
Electronic manuals on the other hand are a different thing - there
aren't any official Toyota ones around and most of what you find on
eaby is pretty crap.

I just installed the "yankee" EPC cd's and it works a treat.
Punched in my VIN and off we went ;-)
I'll compare my part numbers to my dealers when I get a chance to start
working on her again.
Tranny synchro problems should be attacked when I get the proper time to do
it.
Regarding electronic manuals, can't comment cause I'm still laptop-less.
I've got the Gregory's manual and can't fault it.
Off to do some odd jobs in my shop.
First sign of sunny weather and we'll be in the "Lawnmower gumball 3000"
race.

Same here, works perfectly. It would be nice to have a price list too
though. Julian, do you have a price list we can use?

Julian, at the risk of touching a sore spot here, but did you manage
to get a fix for the bug in those CD's please?
Sorry for any discomfort ;-)

Hi Frederik,
Unfortunately not. The fun part is ringing your local parts department
and rattling off parts numbers for them, it gets them terribly
confused.

Hey Julian and good morning to you.
I really thought I was doing quite well really and well into the recovery
phase of the know nothing to am getting there.
But now you say there no hope, im sorry but im going to get a second
opinion, and a third or forth and so on untill I get the right answer.
I did get the CDs working fine thanks to the help of Cruisermik in Mayo and
hos son but when I got the Virus, not me the PC a lot of things seemed to
not work, work different or are just plain gone.
Ill get them installed again at some stage.
The problem was not with the CDs at all but the fact that I had no program
or something like that on the pc to work them.
Thsi program was downloaded by Miks son and then it seems to work well
untill the virus day.
Interesting what you say, so are cruisers no good at climbing mountains or
coming down them, ill never be able to go to Wicklow again.

What a cheek to write such an insult to our old mate.
I had no thought about JB, if you remember, my CD's would not work either!
So should I find them from another site?
Cheers

Hi Jon,
Sorry forgot about that, I think that one of the disks was duff, but
can't remember.
I can run you off another set if required.
