Just picked up about 2 square metres of some super-duty 1/4" plate steel (6.35mm) In four sheet, light surface rust on one side, out of very old fuel oil tank cut up next door behind old business.

So on my 88 LJ70, anybody have recommendations for what areas need protecting the most? Going to do some basic diff covers, probably beef up transfer case and gearbox armour and possibly fuel tank.

I thought about making a super-duty winch bumper, but it would weigh a ton!

If anyone has any links to photos of diff guards, etc, I can use for inspiration, that would be great.

Going to need a LOT of cutting discs to work with this stuff! It's a bit overkill, but was free.

Also came across this Portuguese 4x4 shop that does a load of Land Cruiser stuff, some of it hard to find perhaps. Might be useful: http://www.megastore4x4.pt

Cheers RB

Make a steering guard. :icon-wink:

Its in my LJ70 build thread somewhere.

I did write a really good "How To" but I think that section got deleted when the forum got upgraded. :icon-cry:

Ah thanks will have a look, knew there was something I was probably missing. There's no way I can bend this stuff, it's like battleship thickness :) so will have to chop and weld. Some of the pieces have a right angle along the length, going to make the most of those.
