What do you reckon to these, I've had them in the past and they've been crap, but had them properly done and they look ok, but wouldn't mind some 5% ones in rear and 20% in front, providing they're legal, I also seem to recall that window tinting companies have to abide by the law with regard to allowed %, if you do your own anything goes providing you can see out ????

We had ours done in a range rover we had they were good for the dogs in summer as they kept it cooler and the strong sun off them, and good for a bit of security if you haven`t got a load cover in the back which most of us haven`t in the 90s I`d guess but I must admit I wasnt a lover of them especially at night I couldnt see a bl--dy thing  and the kids like to be on view to their mates.
The ones in the ad look ok easier to fit than the roll stuff I would think

When my elder daughter was at University in Dundee (about 2002), she bought an old, modified Peugeot 105 with tinted windows  .

She got pulled-over on the M90 one day and the Police had a meter that tested the opacity of the screen - it was illegal and she was booked. She had to peel the coating off the windscreen at the side of the road before she could continue.

I managed to get her off by talking to the Duty Sergeant and explaining that she hadn't fitted the tint, didn't know it was illegal, she's a Student . . . I wrote a nice letter explaining all this that she signed and posted.

Now, she works for a bank by day and is a Special Constable in the evenings and weekends

However, the lesson is that the Police are equipped to check these things in a 'spot check' so be sure of what you are fitting.

Bob.

Those pre-cut tints seem quite pricey to me. If you can cut it yourself you will save ££££

When I had mine done the tinters said that they could put a 70% IIRC tint on the front, but usually the windows have a small degree of tint out of the factory so that would take them over the legal limit.

They said they would do it, but made it clear it might be illegal.

I decided to leave the fronts clear and do the rear windows only.

5% back 3 windows and 20% for the rear passenger windows

You can get pulled over anytime, I was in my Chevy Tahoe last summer when a motorway cop going the other way spun round and followed me to the bank.Although the statement "thanks for the escort, there really was no need" went straight over his head,he went straight to the drivers door with a little gadget and measured the tint.Although I was unaware there was even a tint film on or that it was'nt factory glass it was about 3-4% over.
I got a ticket and £30 fine, there was no talking to the TxxT, I had the option of removing the film there or later,Did I? did I fxxx.
just a footnote, the officer was one of the local Police Camera Action brigade off the TV.

I had mine done recently, full limo on the rears and rear side doors.
The driver and passenger doors have a security UV anti hijack quality clear film, and this in itself will show upon the old bill meter as about a 10% tint even though its clear. i did ask the company that did it to do the same as my Navara and the the old shape L200 that i have had and aparantly even those that are "factory fit" they are illegal. Since found out that many factory fit tints are added in this country by the importers for a sales gimmick, as well as things like leather interiors.

Thanks for that Ed but it would probably be a waste of £40 as the dogs are in there most of the time in ours but a good find for anyone who wants one

Helps hold the dog guard in place, and if you fold the cover over the top and poke it down the back, takes about 2" of space. I keep it in there with the great dane in the back! Paid £55 with delivery for mine too a few weeks back :(

Gotta say it's a nice tight bit of kit too... if you are stuck for mounting hardward, mine had it already in so have a spare set.
