rear bumper, step removal

A quick question, how do you remove the step from the rear bumper?
I need to gain access to some wiring behind it.

Do you mean the alloy tread plate above the tow bar mounting?

I think it will be easier to drop the spare tyre then the looms in the rear of the body will be accessible, to remove the ally step plate you have to remove the plastic bumper ends to get access to the 4 bolts that fasten the step to the chassis, every bolt on my vehicle was corroded in and too many did not survive removal

Yeah i do mean the Alloy step.
Julian V had the step off earlier this year so the bolts should come pretty easily.
I just need to access some wiring.

Yes I removed mine, it's bolted from the underside but you need to remove each end plastic bumpers so more bolts there before u can remove the alloy step.
