does anyone have a pic or web-site with pics for 4x4specialistengineering in Lithuania
of their 80 series rear steel bumper?

[not their facebook site]

cheers

that looks good
i'll contact him and find out if he can supply a bumper without the wheel carrier and light holes

i'd also want the 2'' reciever higher up and inside the bumper so the leaving angle is better
just wondering if that makes it too high for towing then?

cheers

For what it's worth, my ARB rear bumper has the receiver embedded, but positioned at the bottom of the cross-member. I've never towed with it but I'd guess it's too high not to need a dropper.

Still, there are occasions when I bottom-out offroad, but it has a lovely thick integrated steel skid-plate so it's never a worry.

they say anything below the rear bumper round here is for ploughing potato's Clive :)

i think i'll get one custom made

Check out these rear bumpers http://www.4x4labs.com/products/rear-bumpers/ A poll on ih8mud rated them the best available rear bumper. Hugely customisable and very strong, they come flat-packed and ready to weld up. From my searching they do indeed appear to be one of the best out there. Just the small issue of shipping + taxes.

I keep toying with the idea of getting one. I thought I could get away without a swing-away but after this trip I am now convinced I need one, at the very least for the bike carrier. I might see what the costs would be.

I have the Frog's Island one, well two actually and they're simple no nonsense bumpers. No funky clever bits, but easy to mod to take a wheel carrier

Three emails I've sent to Frogs, asking if they could supply one of their bumpers, and they haven't even had the decency to reply! I would be very happy with one of them but I assume they are no longer available. Shame really.

They are utter shite. I tried them once and never again. But you might have better luck if you deal directly with Julian V. Note, I did say MIGHT.

We're currently in the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata-Nijar, just East of Almeria, Spain. Heading slowly to Valencia for Monday morning as James Baroud have arranged for us to visit a dealer to get an issue resolved with the tent. I'd certainly be interested in any details and in what sort of bumper your planning.

hello Lorin

the guy i'm thinking of using is an excellent fabricator, open to customers input and spec,i've seen his work

i was where you are in the 1980's on a windsurfing trip, hope it's still a quiet spot ;)
last time i was in Valencia they had a big fiesta
first time i've seen a fiesta last four days and nights...

he hasn't done many 80's as there aren't many in Portugal
i have to leave it with him and pick it up when it's ready
for an original looking rear steel bumper it's 300 euros
i'm going to see him in september
