Hi, looking for some advice.
The sump pan on the cruiser has just about rusted through and now weeps oil so requires changing. Is it possible to drop this out of the bottom of the car or will it require the engine lifted? Planning on doing it in the spring whilst keeping an eye on the old one for now. She's a 2001 4.2 deisel.

Thanks for any advice.

An effective repair can be affected by cleaning the area of the weep with a wire brush, the more rust removed the better.( i might add, drain the oil first). Clean off with brake cleaner and apply RTV silicon sealer to a couple of inches around the pin hole. let it set overnight and put the oil back in. It will never leak.
I have done this on trucks times many and never once had a leak .
You can try it for nowt but you must use Engineering Grade RTV Silicon sealer.

Thanks for the reply Andy, but there is a new pan on its way over from the UAE. Will certainly try the fix you suggested to bide her over, but would still like to put the new one on in the summer.
Could it be done from under the truck or is it not feasible?
