Hi rat race, would that be Deva by chance?
Deva's in the West, so less mileage after hauling from the UK.
It's a very nice area, but quite a drive for me (5 hrs ish) so I haven't toured around there much.
Deva, Oradea, you'll find plenty of off-road if you want it. If you come further East, I'll try to meet up.

A couple years ago did a trip from Bulgaria up into Romania via the Ruse then went to Sinaia and see Peles Castle after that we head off across the mountains towards Bran and another great castle. the bit i like was at Movile there is a load of burial mounds. Got to do Transfagarasan Highway and also did DN67C, the Trans-Alpina.
Also had a day at Poienari Castle, the Home of Vlad Tepes (Dracula) that was good
So for me its time for a return trip, but it would be great to meet anyone there as i have made firm plans what i will be doing

The cobble street with the market all the way down (to the left and behind the camera in your photo) was the last part of my bike downhill run from the top of Sinaia!
Did you go up the mountain?

Unfortunately not, just a roof tent, be a bit difficult to get a front axle up there.
Well, if you come to Romania in 2015, and if I can persuade you to come as far as Sinaia or my place in Comarnic, then we can take you up the mountain! You can even do some downhill biking if you want, I've got a couple of spare bikes.
That goes for all of you, ratrace, Chas and Shayne. There's room at my place for as long as you want to stay!
At the least we can have one hell of a BBQ!

It's definitely high on my list of places i'd like to see
Its beautiful, the people are lovely and I'd highly recommend it!!
