Very kind of you to say so Sarah, and as I said, you’re welcome anytime to pop in or to stay.

I’ll be posting a Comarnic 2019 thread in the New Year to test the water for anyone interested. Every year we’ve been blessed with Club Members visiting since 2015, usually in the later part of August to fit with my daughter’s school holidays...

It’s a great chance to socialize for a week or so, and it gives me an excuse to get out and about here to see the sights.

Well I suppose there’s little chance of anything much heavier than a fully laden cruiser going up your lane. Mind you, I guess they got the concrete truck up there.

Not really Rich, to do our section, they brought a truck mixer up to the first junction just down the hill from us, then used the front bucket of JCB 3CX to bring the concrete up to where they were placing it.

They started at the top working down to half-way, then continued loading the JCB from the bottom end, working from the middle down.

It doesn’t get much traffic, there’s half a dozen small cars, a transit drop side tipper, me, and the rest of the traffic is sheep, goats, cows and horses.

We did get a truckmixer and concrete pump up there when we did the foundations for the extension, and we’ve had the septic tank emptied by a vacuum tanker. Those are the heaviest things I’ve ever seen up the lane.

A bit of the white stuff at last.

It’s the second fall this winter, the first was a freak cold snap in October (before the temps bounced back up into the high 20’s :icon-rolleyes:).

It’s still too warm really, but we're trying to be optimistic for a white Christmas...

That looks like a good covering Clive. I hope we have another beast from the east soon here as it was great fun last year up on the moors

Sadly it’s no “beast” Ben, but we live in hope. It’s all about timing, we’ve already had -9C and -11c but then it was dry. Catch those temperatures and some moist air currents, and we could be in for a big one.

We’ve had our moments in the past ...

Just told Helen about the concrete , her reply "maybe just as well because there's no way that 80 will go up there like your 90 does" . me huh ? . Helen starts making zooming noises and miming hairpin turns

It's true Nick , my mates could never understand why i felt a scramble bike with not for road use nobbly tyres was more fun to ride on the road than my 750cc GSXR , the big bike was fun on the mountain where police had no chance of catching up but for every day back roads bouncing from pothole to hedge to grid to pavement with the back wheel stepping out made 70mph truly giggle worthy :D

As it’s work on Monday and the end of our seasonal holiday tomorrow, we took a little ride out to Predeal today.

We were fairly late leaving at about 2:00 pm, and the traffic was awful, but we got there in the end and decided to take the road up to Cioplea, a high spot with nice views, and due to the altitude there was plenty of snow.

Then we chanced it and took the forest road to see if we could get to Cabana Susai, its about 14 km in total... its a dirt road with about 30 cm of packed snow on it, but the KM2s held up fine.

The dash mount photos are all fuzzy I’m afraid, but they give an idea. It was almost dark when we arrived so the light bars came in handy...

Wow!

Weekend 12/13 January 2019

As sis-in-law is visiting, we took a ride out to Sibiu for a weekend break.

Stopped off Friday night at the house and had a bit of a shock that our lane was cordoned off with red/white marker tape. I took a detour up the main road to approach our lane from the top, and meantime Aura phoned the neighbours to find out what was up. They said nothing’s up, just that the local kids (big & small) were skiing and sledging on the lane. So we took care coming down the hill and sure enough there must have been 20 or so teenagers and adults having a wail of a time, they even built a small ski-jump :icon-rolleyes:

And because we’d had a little dump of snow Thursday night, they had also cleared behind our gates, the patch where I park, and all the pathways up to the house.

Can’t be bad, saved me a good couple of hours shoveling.:icon-biggrin:

Saturday was a frosty sunrise and off we headed towards Sibiu.

On the way we stopped off at few touristy places including this newly built “pension” with 10 rooms and a restaurant. A bit bizarre, but interesting, nevertheless. It’s built from timbers and clay (except the restaurant which is stone).

It even has a lookout tower, being on the top of a hill, there’s a great view from up there.

It’s in its own grounds, so it has a cute check-in kiosk at the entrance.

We spent the evening about town in Sibiu had a meal and so forth, very relaxing and enjoyable.

Sunday, we took a detour on the way home, and found this beautiful snowy road...
