Indeed, pretty it isn't, but a hell of a lot more satisfying/relieving viewing than rust from end to end and across.

It's messy but is free and lasts a long time ...... old used engine oil.....
Use it on some old trucks and it works well .
Often have to take old diggers and machines apart that have had very little care and when you steam clean them off the area that's had a slight oil leak for decades and got a crusty layer of dust and crap stuck to the oil is like new when washed off.... not sure how you replicate that on a vehicle though.
