Shake up in the insurance biz?

Fluxxy strenuously denied this today when I spoke to them. I can't say more than that. They just said it was not true that they were getting out of modded vehicles nor turning away new customers. Modded vehicles were a speciality of theirs and still are. Go figure.

Turns out that Adrian Flux is getting out of new business around the club's and non mainstream cars - they quoted me over £2k for the year. When I questioned the sanity of that the guy basically said that they were only really keen on existing renewals and had a pretty high barrier got new customers.

Absolutely. That is what i was told on the phone. I am surprised that they are now denying it. Let me call them back tomorrow and find out wtf is going on.

Been trying some of the 'compare' websites and, so far, Sheila's Wheels are looking good for me at just under £360 Fc. Some of the quotes are well over £1k. Don't now why they bother.

Got my renewal from flux today, gone up a few quid but not enough to consider calling around or even calling them tbh, £360 that's with all mods declared, 17 years protected ncb, agreed value, I have a 5k miles policy. Can't grumble with that at all.

Ended up going with Shiela's Wheels (policy starts today). Just happened to check my credit card balance and found that my previous company (Esure) have taken the full renewal fee despite me telling them 2 weeks ago that I wasn't renewing due to the price! Called them and they've initiated a full and immediate refund so not too bad I guess, plus, I've been reading through the new policy documents for Sheila's Wheels and found they are part of Esure! WTF!?*

Renewed with Flux a couple of weeks ago, all mods declared, 5 years NCB and it was around £420 I think. It was about the same the previous year, so I don't feel too ripped off.

NZ FTW though...

I have just been through all this with the new truck.
I did all the trawling around, with insurers who advertise specialist 4x4 or modified cover that I have used before like Graham Sykes, Flux, Knotts etc but they were all coming in at £1000 plus which I was surprised as I am a normal insurer with no startling issues like poor driving record and I have about as long a NCB as its possible to have. I questioned this with each of them as I knew I could get it much cheaper elsewhere (and not trying it on as I really could.) And they each gave some excuses about rising costs etc.
Ended up on Go Compare who came in with an insurer at about £300 which I then loaded up with the usual protections so totalled about £350.

Must just add that I will never use Flux again. On my last policy with them on the 100, I was impressed with them so called for a landlord insurance quote on my rental property. I then received a call back from the motor section saying my existing truck insurance premium had a surcharge of an extra £100 as being a landlord was a second occupation and raises my motor policy costs, if I didn't pay then the policy would be cancelled.

Flux seem to just randomly send my calls to different brokers. None of whom seem keen to cover me

Never had an issue with flux even had a claim in the past through them.

Heard lots of people recently getting ridiculous renewal quotes for much smaller vehicles so been waiting for the shock, it was a pleasant surprise.

I have just renewed my insurance with Adrian Flux for my lightly moded Colorado it has gone up £20 to £239 for the year with no mileage restrictions

I also insure my 3 rd Gen Hilux Surf with them and that went down £20 on 5000 miles a year police

Both fully comp
