Smell of fuel on startup.

Guys after not driving the FZ for a few days I got in a couple of days ago and fired it up, to be greeted with a pretty strong smell of petrol both in cab and when at rear outside. Checked for leaks in engine bay, under vehicle and fuel tank. Nothing.

The smell does disappear pretty quickly and is only noticeable when motor is cold at first startup.

Now I don't remember this before. Anyone else experience the same or have any suggestions as to cause.

Unburnt fuel coming from the exhaust possibly?

Cold start - or choke, mechanism coming in because it's been cold for the first time?

Yeah mine smells a bit from cold start, usually stinks the mancave out! It quite often sits for a couple of weeks. It was even worse when had de-cat pipe in lol.

Funny you should mention it Gary, yes it is. Came to that conclusion yesterday. Will reset timing to see if that makes a difference.

Not adjusted timing but still a bit smelly when cold.

On a slight side step of topic.... how good do they sound from cold pulling away at low rpm
