smog pump issues/ solutions?

I have an 84 land cruiser and it has been through 2 smog pumps in less than a year. does anybody know of a way to bypass this item.

Hi Oliver, that is interesting! Does it bolt on to the engine in some way or form? In Europe we dont have them. It must be possible to remove it and use the truck in it's designed state.

I once saw a Californian fj60 and the amount of extra vacume pipes on it was incredable. Just to allow it on the roads in the city. Where are you based?
